Chapter 1. On how it all began. The office.

Judgment is the evaluation of evidence to make a decision. (Wikipedia)

I never thought about the details of the Judgment Day. In fact my thought life stumbled over the verse of Scripture, where Apostle Paul reminded Corinthians that they are going to judge Angels. That just blew me away the very first time I read it. And that was the furthest I could think about the Judgment Day then.

While I lived on Earth there were so many scholarly opinions on how God is going to judge sinners (if at all He is going to do that) that many people have sorted it out really easy. Calvinists said that God is not going to judge believers, and they took care that they are true believers. Arminians said that it is truly important that one would thoroughly cleanse himself through prayer, confession and fulfilling God’s will. Monks fought with demons in their cells. Jesuits flogged themselves and tortured both themselves and others to save them from the scrutiny of the Judgment Day. But to say the truth, as I look upon all that history, there were but few people who truly understood the full extent and severity of God’s Judgment. I mean it. If they only knew what would happen here, they would act differently. How come would you ask? What would be the difference? Welcome to my office.

Firstly, I think they would seek every opportunity to repent before God and believe in Jesus Christ. Seriously. There is a list of people in my office, and all of them would die to have that opportunity to be given to them.

Secondly, I think that if they had only spend one minute in my office, those people who call themselves Christians would go to such an extent in religious zeal, that they would be able to accomplish almost as much as Apostle Paul did.

Thirdly, I suppose that thousands of people who still call themselves “Christians” would literally pluck their eyes. I mean it. No kidding here. There were cases when people wanted to do that in my office, but I had to call guards, that they would restrain them.

Fourthly, that unforgiving issue would be virtually non-existent for those souls who would be careful enough to plumb the depth of Jesus' words in the Sermon of the Mount. Here in my office I feel like every single person who comes here at one point of time or another just closed his eyes and thought that his grudge and unforgiving attitude is more tolerable than that of his neighbour. Man, that is so illogical, that I am perplexed at this every time I come to a case when people read that themselves, preached that to others and yet decided better to die in their pride than ask for forgiveness. That’s still a mystery to me.

Fifthly, oh, I don’t know if I have to go that far. If only people knew how important are good works coming out of the sincere faith in Christ. If people would only know what repercussions they would have for all their eternity they would not run as to only beat air, they would be just paragons of virtue, planning their good works for years ahead while on Earth. Believe me, there are approximately one out of a hundred believers who honestly tried to connect his faith with works of charity. There are only a few who prayed hard enough to climb up the Apostle Peter’s ladder, which he described in 2 Peter 1:5-8

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-8

Sixthly, I will be short here. All men, and I mean all men would love to hear more about the Cross of Christ and go deeper in the understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Those things that I have seen here, that people bring as substitutes for that are so bleak and rotten that I really marvel at their ability to argue their case and defend those things which they call: My best efforts, endless confessions and rigorous introspection, universal and unlimited salvation, and yes, so many come all in dirty clothes hoping that if God is love He is obliged to give them eternal life.

Seventhly, and finally, yes, I also like number 7, this day I have a day off and worship my God through Jesus Christ. So, seventhly, I think that people would act really wisely, if they at some point just stop vain talking. It takes really long time to get through all those tedious conversations and make some sense out of it. Of course I see “key words”, but think of this – thousands of words going through my desk daily and I have to evaluate them all before coming  to the right conclusion based precisely on the correlation of words, thoughts, man’s life circumstances and a few other things.

Please, speak less, prepare your case thoroughly while on Earth and give me a break.
